I have been providing compassionate, body-centered care to families in Boulder County over the last 25 years.
As a homebirth midwife, the most fulfilling and enjoyable aspect of my care was my relationships – the intimate connections with my clients as guide and facilitator of their journeys, and as witness to the ripening and blossoming of each woman. Ideally, a pregnancy that is experienced with celebration and faith, a labor that is guided by instinct and an embodied confidence, birth a mother who is fully in touch with her child and with her inner resources as parent.
I added massage therapy to my services fifteen years ago because I wanted to offer another way of deepening the experience and enjoyment of pregnancy for my clients. I found that women who came for regular massage during their pregnancies inhabited their changing bodies with more ease and faced the challenge of labor with relaxation and trust.
As I leave families in the hands of a next generation of midwives, I am excited to continue the connections and the guidance for women of all ages. We all need to live in our bodies, believe in them, nurture, thank and enjoy them. This embodied confidence is our birthright and it can be discovered and developed at any age. I believe it makes all the difference for how we live in the world.
I miss the babies. To be present for their births, to rest them in my lap as I talk with their parents in the postpartum weeks and to help them find their way was a joy and a privilege. When I observe a newborn’s instinctive intelligence, perfect presence and exquisite embodiment, I recognize the seed of all of us. I still offer craniosacral sessions for infants, and schedule these as homevisits whenever possible.
